I recently had to relocate to Des Moines and had to sell my childhood acreage which was a tough thing to do due to it being 3rd generation owned. After trying to sell private I decided to have a realtor help list it on the market. I consulted with 3 different realtors and their service and transparency were subpar at best. I was not happy with my realtor experience from the get go and made me pretty jaded. Then Kyle Steinfeldt saw my listing on Craigslist and reached out to me and was more than open and honest. I am beyond happy with working with Kyle, he made everything so easy. Kyle is a very reliable, honest, he has the drive and work ethic that is unmatched these days and I was beyond impressed. I recently sold my house with some property. After my first realtor wiled away a year doing nothing I decided to find someone new. Jake Fowler with Midwest Land Group was recommended by some family friends. I was a bit hesitant as the realtor fee was a bit more than most I've seen or were told about. My fears were quickly put to rest, within days of taking over Jake had my listing posted online in multiple places, pamphlets made and within the first few weeks was already getting requests for showings. In the end I believe it took 60-90 days to sell my property, and I could not be more happy. Jake was great with keeping in touch with me, which was nice as a first time home seller, he was always available to answer my questions or return a call. My wife Carol and I could not have imagined a more positive experience with Midwest Land Group agent Sam Vedvei when it came time to sell her family’s land in Spink County, South Dakota. Literally, within minutes of being recommended by MLG agent Jim Shaeffer, we received a call from Sam to set up an in-person meeting at our home. My wife’s sister and her husband live in Iowa so they participated by phone. We liked Sam immediately upon meeting him. He was very friendly and easy to talk to and an excellent listener. My wife and her sister recently contacted Sam Vedvei, land agent with Midwest Land Group, to have him sell their 160 acres of farmland near Doland, South Dakota. Sam really did his research on the land, finding comparable recent sales and provided a detailed report of soil types and the land value. After agreeing upon the selling price, Sam visited the property and took pictures and a video of the land and then put the parcel on the Midwest Land Group website. Even at this early point, Sam already had a list of potential buyers and was on the phone reaching out to them. This was on a Thursday, and by Saturday we already had two offers, one of which came in at the full sale price.
After the papers were signed, Sam continued to work with both parties and the title company to make certain that things went smoothly. Sam did all of the little things and kept in regular communication with us throughout the transaction. We want to thank Lucas Schroeder and Midwest Land Group for a job well-done. We had 160 acres in central South Dakota, which originally we did not intend to sell. Sometimes, however, the needs of a family change, and we decided to look into selling. As novices, we had few contacts, and initially received mixed signals and general misinformation. We responded to some of the ads from various land realtors, who happily answered a few initial questions, but then quickly lost interest. We then received a mailer from Midwest Land Group – it was more professional than the others. Their online site, like the mailer, was also very professional and included a listing with photos and descriptions of their agents. There we found Lucas Schroeder “Serving Central South Dakota.” That was when things changed.

It was more like working with a friend than working with a land agent we had never met. There were no hidden details or sudden surprises: everything was up-front. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I was directed by my nephew to contact Andy Anderson with Midwest Land Group to help sell 110 acres that I co-owned near Hamilton Missouri. I met Kent in May to discuss the possibility of listing property that I was considering putting on the market and selling. Kent drove to the property in southern Iowa, then drove to my office in west-central Wisconsin to present his marketing plan. As it turned out, the timing wasn’t right for a sale at that time, so I did not list at that time. In late November circumstances changed and I needed the property sold ASAP. I informed Kent of my situation and the need to have it sold prior to the end of the year. We agreed on a listing price and Kent was able to get an offer that was a fair price as well as have it close on December 31.

I am the managing member of a family-owned real estate LLC. Part of the portfolio was a farm that had been in the family for over a hundred years. The decision to sell was not made lightly. Paul comes from a family that also has a century-old farm so he knew the decision was about more than just money. Unlike other brokers that I had spoken to, Paul took the time to physically tour the property. He took copious notes and spent about an hour and a half touring the 90 acres in an ATV so that he had a firm grasp on what the property could offer. He took time to thoroughly research the property and the available comps; re-affirming his knowledge of land and land use. I would like to say how grateful we are for Zed Goodwin. We had tried to sell our house on our own to no avail. We then ended up listing it with an agent that literally begged us to let her list our house. That experience was not a real good one. We wanted Zed to list if for us (since he was the one who found it for us years ago) but felt sorry for the other agent. However we learned our lesson and sat on it for 6 months. We then did what we wanted to from the beginning and listed it with Zed.
Zed did a wonderful job on advertising, stayed in contact with us and was upfront and honest throughout the process. When we put our house and horse property on the market, we used the "in town" realtor that found us a home closer to town. My first clue that he wasn't the best fit was when he showed up to walk the property with loafers and no socks. He did his best, but country property was not his area of expertise.
I had seen Scott Sudkamp's postings on Facebook and on the internet. We called him and were very pleased with his knowledge of rural property, both wooded areas and pasture. There are not enough superlatives to describe the professionalism of Mr. Andy Anderson and Midwest Land Group in assisting me to sell my land in mid-Missouri. About ten years ago, I moved from Missouri to Illinois and decided to sell some 40 acres of timberland near Sturgeon, Missouri. The land contained two stocked ponds, rolling hills and was ideal for hunting. At first I contracted with a local realtor who claimed to be an expert rural property sales, but I soon became disenchanted when he was unable to attract any offers, even after I lowered the asking price several times. Indeed, I was afraid I would never sell the property without taking a big loss on my investment.
Several years passed before I finally reached out to Andy Anderson. Andy met me in person, walked the land, did his research, and assured me that Midwest Land Group could sell the land within two months. He and his staff made a wonderful video with appealing arial photos of the land and advertised the property through myriad national outlets. Within seven weeks we had a firm offer and Andy brokered a sale that redounded in a reasonable profit. Andy explained things thoroughly, offered sage advice, and guided us through all the legal documents in an understandable way. My only regret is that I had not contacted Andy Anderson and Midwest Land Group years ago. In sum, I found Andy to very knowledgeable, engaging, dependable, honest, and hardworking.
Deciding to sell my property after 16 years was a very tough decision as so many memories were made with family and friends. I felt the property was very unique along with a great location that selling it myself might be a distinct possibility and save myself the realtor commission. After sharing my own “write up” along with a website full of pictures on facebook, emails and text groups I had quite a few bites and even showed the property several times in a very short amount of time. I was feeling pretty good that an offer would come but in the end the bites were just bites and no real offers.
While I was trying to sell it myself I interviewed several land brokers who were all excellent at their craft and represented the top names in the recreational land sales industry. There were several easements and a special permit that had to be obtained prior to the sale of our property. We have moved more times than I'd like to think about. I classified Realtors with used car salesman. That was the way I felt until Karl Ward came into our life. His values fell in line with ours. He was prompt, no-nonsense, did exactly what he said he would do. He was there when he said he would be. He told us that the house wouldn't be on the market for very long and it was not.
