Michael Gustafson

Serving Eastern South Dakota

Michael Gustafson knows what it’s like to be a member of farm heritage. He grew up on a family farm in Lyons, Nebraska where they grew corn and soybeans, as well as a cow-calf operation. Michael began raising hogs at the age of 8, at which point he began learning about farm finances. Today, he owns and manages the farm with his brothers, continuing its conservation program that’s been passed down over generations. Michael earned BAs in Biology and Mathematics from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, where he played football and earned NCC All Conference awards, as well as a BS in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis.

His career includes working with IBM as an International Marketing Manager, Ernst & Young Consulting as a Senior Manager, as well as Panera Bread as a Director of Technical Operations. Along with his real farm-life experience, each of these positions prepared him for a successful career with Midwest Land Group, giving him sales, marketing, and the strategic business experience necessary to help farmers and agricultural businesses alike.

Michael and his wife, Cindy, have four adult children and five grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and coaching baseball and basketball. Michael understands that for most farm and ranch operations, the land is the most important asset. Helping each owner reach the highest return for the sale of their farm and providing an asset match for the buyer is his biggest objective. If you’re looking to buy or sell farmland, Michael is the agent for you.
