Jim Shaeffer

Serving Southeast South Dakota

Born in San Antonio, TX, Jim Shaeffer grew up with a love for the outdoors. At an early age, he moved to Alaska, then to South Dakota, where his father and grandfather spent countless hours teaching him to love everything about nature and land, including how to hunt, fish, and use natural resources wisely. It’s this passion for land, along with a solid conservation ethic, that led Jim to Midwest Land Group after 27 years as a CEO for a computer security software reseller. Having decades of experience in creating habitat and managing land gives him a unique perspective on what a piece of property can become if developed and managed correctly. Jim, himself, has re-established over 4,000 acres of native prairie grasses since 1999 and currently manages over 800 acres of wildlife habitat consisting of native grasses, trees, stock dams, and food plots. He’s the past president of Southeast South Dakota Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA), a board member of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) of South Dakota, and an usher at Crosswalk Community Church. Jim and his wife, Vonda, have five children and four grandchildren. He’s been involved with numerous conservation organizations including Pheasants Forever, Safari Club International, National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, and Delta Waterfowl. As an agent, Jim loves to get people excited about the possibilities of what a property can become. He enjoys seeing what his clients have created and loves seeing them share that with their family and friends.
